See more >Ni Sa Bula/Kia ora,
It’s nearly 32 years since I joined the Broadway Medical Centre as a junior partner. It wasn’t a hard decision to join back then as I had decided on a career as a GP and joining Broadway was a perfect start. I did have some worries at the start, as I had no patients of my own and some days would only see a handful of people. Now many years later, I am making the much more difficult decision to retire.
In the coming weeks I will gradually reduce the number of patients I see in the day. On the 1st April I am taking six weeks leave. When I return, I will be available to see patients in the mornings and taking on a new role at Broadway as Senior GP Consultant in the afternoons. I will be seeing fewer patients but will be using my experience and skills to support the Broadway team as they care for you. This means that while I might not always be the person actually physically examining you, I will be still involved in your care as an advisor.
We have a great team of Nurses and Doctors at Broadway. Doctor’s Georgie, Guy, Isla, and Emily are our new young generation of GP’s, and along with the rest of the team they will be able to see you. I feel very comfortable supporting them in their careers knowing that the combination of their knowledge and skills and my input from having known some of you for 30 years will be an impressive combination.
Thank you for your help with this transition process and thank you for choosing me to walk along with you in your lives all these years. I will still be walking along side you for a bit longer but in a different way.
GP’s who currently have their books open:
